The most wonderful time of year

I love garden season because so much changes so quickly, nothing is ever slow. I never in my wildest dreams would have thought I would be a homeschool mom and a gardener. I remember growing up and gardening most years and never having the feeling I do now when I see all the hard work I put in to it. I rush out every morning now to see what has changed over night and just soak in the peace it brings.
It amazes me how much can change within a few hours. This morning I went out and I had another broccoli head starting to appear. Blossoms on my tomatoes, I saw more baby cucumbers and melons. I saw a few bad bugs and eggs and got rid of them and then I just enjoyed it all. I walked through it and decided what I still need to do and want to do and each day that changes as well. Today's goals were to weed out some things and collect more mint and cut back some items and just tidy up.
As I grow each year into a different person, I also grow in my gardening and homestead life. I go bigger, I cut out the things I don't really want, even if they are good for us, and I just focus on what I can benefit more from in the garden. I think about what I plan to do and this year that doesn't just mean put away a lot of food like I did last year but hopefully share some of it with the community after putting in the hard work.
Today we sell chicken eggs at our home as well as one of the local country stores and now this year we are expanding to fresh cut flowers and produce. We are excited, we are seeing what there is a need for in our own lives and those around us. Around here fresh cut flowers are not something that is seen often and we are excited to see all the beauty we can come up with. If nothing comes from it, we will have lots of bees and butterfly's around.
